Description
Ciclopirox 1% Cream is a broad-spectrum topical antifungal medication used to treat various superficial fungal skin infections. It is effective against dermatophytes, yeasts (including Candida species), and molds, and also shows activity against certain gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Ciclopirox works by interfering with fungal cell membrane function and inhibiting essential intracellular processes, leading to the death of the fungal cells. Regular application helps relieve symptoms such as itching, redness, scaling, and inflammation while clearing the infection.
Uses of Ciclopirox 1% Cream
Treatment of tinea infections (ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch)
Management of cutaneous candidiasis
Treatment of pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
Relief from fungal skin infections with inflammation and itching
Adjunct therapy in mixed fungal and bacterial skin infections (as advised)

Mechanism of Action
Ciclopirox inhibits the transport of essential elements (such as iron) into fungal cells, disrupting enzyme systems required for energy production and cell metabolism. This leads to impairment of fungal cell membrane integrity and ultimately causes fungal cell death.
Its additional anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties further support faster healing of infected skin.
