Description
Anabix 1 mg Tablets contain Anastrozole, a selective aromatase inhibitor that reduces estrogen production in postmenopausal women. By lowering estrogen levels, Anastrozole helps slow the growth of estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells.
This medication is used under medical supervision, usually as part of a cancer treatment regimen or adjuvant therapy after surgery.
Indications / Uses
Anabix 1 mg Tablets are indicated for:
Hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women
Adjuvant treatment of early breast cancer after surgery
Advanced or metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women
Occasionally used off-label for fertility or other estrogen-dependent conditions under strict medical supervision
Benefits
Reduces estrogen production to slow tumor growth
Effective as adjuvant therapy in postmenopausal breast cancer
Oral administration is convenient and non-invasive
Well-tolerated and widely used in clinical practice
Mechanism of Action
Anastrozole works by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which converts androgens into estrogen:
Estrogen suppression: Reduces circulating estrogen levels
Decreased tumor stimulation: Estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells receive less growth signal
Slowed cancer progression: Reduces risk of recurrence and disease advancement
Side Effects
Common side effects:
Hot flashes
Joint or muscle pain
Fatigue
Nausea
Headache
Weakness
Less common but serious side effects:
Bone thinning or osteoporosis
Fractures
Severe allergic reactions
Liver enzyme abnormalities

Safety Advice
Alcohol: Limit alcohol; may worsen side effects or liver function.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:
Not for use in premenopausal women or during pregnancy
Not recommended during breastfeeding
Bone Health:
Long-term use may cause bone loss; calcium and vitamin D supplementation may be advised
Other Medical Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have:
Liver or kidney disease
Osteoporosis or fracture history
Cardiovascular disorders
Dosage & Administration
Take Anabix 1 mg Tablets exactly as prescribed
Usually once daily, orally, with or without food
Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew
Duration of therapy depends on medical assessment and treatment protocol
Regular bone density monitoring may be recommended
Medical Supervision & Monitoring
Use only under supervision of an oncologist or healthcare professional experienced in cancer therapy
Routine monitoring may include:
Liver function tests
Bone density scans
Blood counts and metabolic panels
Assessment for tumor response
Use the lowest effective dose for the duration recommended by your physician to optimize treatment and minimize side effects.
Important Note
Long-term Anabix therapy may increase risk of bone loss and fractures. Patients should be counseled on bone health, calcium/vitamin D intake, and lifestyle measures to minimize risk.
